Our Stance on Web3 Values, Security, and the Path Forward

Zero Tap Labs

Released on April 22nd, 2025

Purpose of Statement

In light of a growing number of messages, emails, and veiled threats from certain individuals and entities within the Web3 community—ranging from demands to fully open-source our codebase, to threats of blacklisting, public cancellation, and calls to boycott our products—we feel it is necessary to respond with clarity and conviction.

Zero Tap Labs was not built to bend under pressure or conform to mob-driven tactics. We stand by our decision to withhold 100% public release of our foundational source code at this stage in our development. This is not out of secrecy or exclusion—but out of responsibility. Security, integrity, and resilience take precedence over performative transparency.

We categorically reject any attempt to coerce us into compromising our systems or endangering the very safeguards we’re building to protect the Web3 ecosystem. Our mission has always been—and remains—to create a safer, more principled, and privacy-respecting future for Web3 users across generations.

To those who mistake our caution for concealment, or our conviction for defiance: understand that our refusal to “tap out” under ideological pressure is not an act of aggression. It is a commitment to responsible innovation, ethical development, and long-term stability.

This letter serves as our formal response and public stance:

We will not be bullied. We will not be blackmailed. We will not compromise.

We are excited for the future we’re building—a Web3 rooted in accountability, privacy, and purpose—and we welcome all who share that vision to walk forward with us.

Open Letter in Response:

At Zero Tap Labs, we are deeply committed to the foundational ideals that Web3 was built upon: transparency, decentralization, privacy, integrity, and accountability. These aren’t just buzzwords we repeat—they’re guiding principles that shape every decision we make, every line of code we write, and every protocol we deploy. But principles must be grounded in reality, not idealism detached from consequence.

Web3 promises a fairer, freer digital future—but fairness cannot exist in an environment where some are expected to open every door while others hide behind the walls of ideological extremism. Decentralization is not a one-way street. Privacy is not a privilege—it’s a right. And accountability must apply equally across the spectrum, not selectively enforced based on popularity, narratives, or mob pressure.

We’ve seen a troubling imbalance grow: those advocating for decentralization and transparency often do so while demanding unrestricted access to the inner workings of others—without offering the same in return. This double standard promotes chaos masquerading as freedom. It silences responsible actors, brands them as gatekeepers, and undermines the very trust Web3 seeks to instill.

Let us be clear:

We will not hand over our entire architecture, our security layers, or the backbone of our systems to satisfy a noisy few who believe that decentralization means zero structure.

We do not answer to bullies—whether they come cloaked in ideology or operating under the banner of “openness.”

We will never compromise the integrity, sovereignty, and security of the systems we build, the users we protect, or the vision we uphold.

True decentralization must evolve—beyond slogans—into measured, principled frameworks that respect both privacy and responsibility. Building a transparent future doesn’t mean erasing all boundaries or rewarding chaos. It means protecting the integrity of all participants while enabling innovation and resilience at every layer.

We recognize that many builders, founders, and developers in this space feel the same. Yet fear of being canceled, heckled, or painted as “anti-Web3” keeps too many silent. We are not afraid to speak. Silence is not our brand—accountable innovation is.

To those who feel the pressure to conform to a distorted version of Web3 that demands exposure without offering protection—we hear you. We stand with you.

Let us lead not with fear, but with courage and clarity. Let us protect what matters. Let us build the Web3 that future generations deserve—a decentralized world where security and transparency are not at odds, but in balance.

Zero Tap Labs will always lead with integrity. We invite others to do the same.
